Great Northern Salmon, Eyvi, and Eyvi’s owners have entered into agreements for collaboration on U.S. development for salmon and trout, with Eyvi serving as Great Northern Salmon’s RAS vendor. Additionally, Eyvi’s owners are making a significant strategic investment in Great Northern Salmon.

Eyvi developed Hima’s 8,000 mt trout farm in Rjukan, Norway, which is set for its first commercial harvest this summer. This is a RAS trout farm similar in size to Great Northern Salmon´s Millinocket facility under development.

Great Northern Salmon has established a strong position with a team of industry veterans in Maine, USA. Key permits have been secured, and the company is currently advancing site preparations to lay the foundation for a highly efficient construction process for its 7,500 metric tons RAS salmon facility.

««We are impressed by the experience and design thinking at Eyvi»»

CEO of Great Northern Salmon

The Great Northern Salmon management team has extensive experience from various development and permitting processes both in the US and abroad, along with a broad experience in construction and operations. The Great Northern Salmon team of industry veterans based in the US, represents a unique asset in a market where local expertise is hard to find. Evidence clearly demonstrates that having a capable, experienced, and well-connected team on the ground is essential for the successful execution of US projects.

Eyvi has designed and built the successful Hima RAS facility in Norway, which is the world’s largest land-based trout farm. The Hima project is progressing well and has experienced no significant production incidents. The first commercial harvest at Hima is scheduled for this summer as planned. Eyvi has also designed and is currently building a facility for Arctic Seafarm in Norway, with a phase 1 build-out of 8,000 mt. Like Great Northern Salmon, the Eyvi team has extensive experience from numerous RAS facilities over the years, including large-scale operations.

“We are impressed by the experience and design thinking at Eyvi,» says Marianne Naess, CEO of Great Northern Salmon. “Equally important are the synergies we have identified from collaborating on US aquaculture development, and strategic investment from some of Eyvi’s owners into Great Northern Salmon,» she adds.

“The attention to detail in harnessing the full potential of RAS salmon production and understanding the U.S. market at Great Northern Salmon has impressed us,» says Heidi Kyvik, CBDO of Eyvi. “We see that we have much to offer each other as we develop our regenerative production strategies for trout and salmon in the U.S. market,” she adds.
